It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Scoot over Mickey D's! Start with a good whitefish and fry until flakey. Top with tartar sauce and American cheese on your toasted bun and enjoy your homemade version of the popular filet-o-fish sandwich.
1 frozen breaded whitefish patty, do not thaw
1 dash salt
1 small, regular hamburger bun
1 tablespoon prepared tartar sauce
1 slice real American cheese
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F (or the lowest setting your oven has). Heat oil in a deep fryer to 380 degrees F.
Add the fish to the deep fryer and cook until golden brown. Remove the fish from the oil and drain on paper toweling. Sprinkle with salt.
Wrap the hamburger bun in paper toweling and microwave for 10 seconds to steam it.
Spread the tartar sauce on the cut sides of the bun. Place the fish patty on the bottom bun and top with the cheese. Place the top bun over the cheese.
Wrap the filet-of-fish in a piece of foil and place in the oven. Let warm for 10 minutes at 200 degrees F then serve hot.

Is there any way to make this without a deep fryer ...
Follow the cooking instructions on the breaded fish package if you don't have a deep fryer.

This recipe is pretty close. I"m not quite sure what's different. Definitely steaming the bun vs toasting it is the way to go. Maybe the diff is in the tartar sauce. It is a pretty good substitute for a childhood favorite (since I refuse to actually purchase "food" from those types of places now)
