ingredients
1 package (8 ounce size) cream cheese
1 cup butter, or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
Filling
1 pound walnuts, ground fine
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 tablespoons sugar
directions
Combine cream cheese, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl. With a pastry blender, cut in flour 1 cup at a time until dough is thoroughly mixed. Shape into ball. Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
For Filling: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Divide dough in half, keeping one half refrigerated. Sprinkle work surface with powdered sugar. Roll 1 dough half into a 12 x 10 inch rectangle, adding powdered sugar as needed.
Spread half of the filling evenly over dough. Cut into 2 inch squares and roll up, jellyroll fashion. Place seam side down 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until lightly browned on bottom. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
Transfer to wire racks to cool. Dust with powdered sugar or decorative icing.
