You will need a big frying pan to fit all the ingredients. You may leave out the salt and MSG if you like.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

My mother used to make this dish that she learned from her friend. I haven't tried this specific recipe but it is VERY similar. My mom made it with cubed pork so I hadn't tried it with shrimp or chicken. I LOVE rice noodles, they are like an extremely thin spaghetti. I have made my version with just the pork, cabbage, soy sauce and rice noodles. Mine is good enough for me but I think what I was missing was the broth. It is so simple to make. When cooking it, you do need a big pan, the cabbage takes up space until it cooks down. But if you love rice noodles, you may like this. I also have seen a version of this recipe on chinese buffet bars.
