The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

- #14849

ingredients
2 cups packed fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoons pine nuts or walnuts or a combination
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic, peeled and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
directions
Combine the basil, nuts, salt, garlic, and oil in a blender. Process on high speed until the mixture is smooth and combined. Scrape down the sides as needed.
Add the cheese and pulse process just to incorporate the cheese (you do not want to puree it).
Use immediately or place in a container and top with a thin layer of olive oil on the surface of the pesto. Tightly cover the container and either freeze for up to two months or refrigerate for up to one week. To use, carefully drain off the oil and then stir in any that didn't drain off.

Really easy and good. I added a little bit of brown sugar to cut the bitterness.
