This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.

Cheesy, buttery biscuits are a welcome addition to any meal, and these drop biscuits are too easy not to try. You can have them ready by the time your soup or chowder has simmered itself to perfection.
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese
Topping
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet.
Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar, and garlic powder in a mixing bowl. Mix gently. Add the shortening and cut the shortening into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or two forks. Cut the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir the milk and cheese into the biscuit dough. Drop the biscuit dough onto the greased baking sheet using a large spoon.
Place the biscuits in the oven and bake at 425 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Combine the melted butter and garlic powder in a small bowl. Brush the garlic mixture on top of the cheese and garlic drop biscuits as soon as they are removed from the oven.
Let the biscuits cool slightly then serve while still warm. Store any leftovers (completely cooled first) in an airtight container.
This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.
Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

delicious and easy and will def make again
I plan on making these this week. However is the nutrition count per biscuit. When I make these and find out about the nutrition count I will rreview this again.
The nutrition data states "per serving" which in this case is the total data divided by 8. If you make 8 biscuits, that would be one biscuit per serving.

These were the best! I agree with the person who said they taste just like the ones from that famous seafood place. Maybe even better! :) My family ate these up faster then I could bake them. yum yum.

I bumped the recipe up to a quantity of 32 and it was awesome. It allowed you to make a larger biscuit and turned out a total of 24. I took then to a church dinner and they disappeared almost immediately.
