Bannock Biscuits

ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup lard or butter
1 cup water or milk (approximate amount)
directions
In large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Using pastry blender or two knives, cut in lard until fine crumbs form. Stirring with fork, gradually add enough of the water to form ball. Flatten to form circle about 1 inch thick.
Using 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter, cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet. Gather dough and repeat. Bake in center of 425 degrees F oven for about 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
