Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

This buttery icing complements a variety of cake flavors. Try it on white cake, yellow, pound cake, etc. Also works well on blonde brownies or coffee cake.
2 cups brown sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 pinch salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly, and let cook for 3 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the icing cool until thick enough to spread.

I made this last weekend and spread it over a pecan cake it was sooooo good. I added about a tsp. of maple flavor to it. The whole thing tasted like praline candy. It was all gone in a day and a half.

I made this to go on a spice cake, and it came out beautifully. It's perfect caramel, very pretty and extremely tasty. The only hard part was leaving enough after "trying it to make sure it was good" to actually ice the cake.

Made this this to ice a chocolate cake. Made it with half dark brown sugar and half light brown sugar. Tastes really nice. Takes a while to cool down enough to spread though.
