Warm Old-Fashioned Peach Cake

ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine, cut into pieces
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cup whole or low-fat milk
1 package (16 ounce size) frozen sliced peaches, NOT defrosted
lightly sweetened whipped cream for serving, optional
OR
vanilla ice cream, optional
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Put butter in a 9- x 13-inch baking dish; place in oven until butter is melted.
In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in milk until smooth.
Pour batter over melted butter. With a rubber spatula, push batter into corners of the pan. Arrange peaches over batter.
Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.
