1 package (8 ounce size) cream cheese
4 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 box (18.25 ounce size) yellow cake mix with pudding
4 large eggs
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Caramelize the sugar until golden brown in 9 X 12 pan. Set aside.

Flan: Blend together the evaporated milk, condensed milk, cream cheese until well combined. Add the egg yolks, whole egg and blend until light and smooth. Add vanilla extract and ground nutmeg. Set aside.

I submitted a review and thought that I would add (since I don’t think I can edit it) that maybe my results weren’t as good because I just mixed the cake mix by hand in a bowl and did not beat it for the full three minutes to be honest. Maybe somebody in the moderation department can add that to my previous comment.

I did this for Christmas Eve 2022. It was very pretty but my cake was a little dense I ended up flipping it flan side down and treating it like a tres Leche cake pouring about 3/4 cup of 3 types of milk over it after poking with a skewer. I then topped it with sweetened whipped cream and it was much better.

  3. Guest Foodie REVIEW:

This is a rich and delicious dessert. I wasn't sure how the layers would end up but it's got a flan layer and a cake layer but the cake is very moist and it's all just amazing.
