Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Baking chicken doesn't need to be complicated. This simple recipe yields perfectly done chicken with lots of flavor. Adjust the cooking time as needed if using other chicken pieces.

4 pounds whole broiler or fryer chicken, cut up
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried tarragon
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons cold butter, cut in small bits
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the chicken pieces in a baking dish large enough to hold them in a single layer.
Combine the garlic powder, oregano, parsley, tarragon, poultry seasoning, paprika, and black pepper in a small bowl and mix well. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken.
Dot the bits of butter on top of the chicken. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for 10 more minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.
