Hearty Fisherman's Lasagna

ingredients
1 1/2 pound cod fillets (frozen)*
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
2 tablespoons butter
1 can (5.5 ounce size) tomato paste
1 can (19 ounce size) tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 dash black pepper
1 tablespoon basil
6 lasagna noodles, cooked
1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (fresh)

* or haddock, bluefish, turbot, pickerel, or whitefish
Partially thaw fillets and cut in 1 inch pieces.
Saute vegetables and garlic in butter until onion is translucent. Stir in tomato paste, tomatoes and seasonings. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add the fish and simmer for another 5 minutes.
Layer half of the noodles in a 8 cup greased, shallow baking dish. Cover with half of the fish sauce and the Mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly and lightly brown.
