Ground beef, onion, pasta, tomatoes, mushrooms, and seasonings are all cooked in one dish - making this recipe easy to make (and clean up after)

1 pound ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 package (7 ounce size) spaghetti pasta
1 can (28 ounce size) diced tomatoes, undrained
3/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup water
1 can (8 ounce size) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (4 ounce size) shredded cheddar cheese
In a large skillet, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in uncooked spaghetti and the next eight ingredients; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until the spaghetti is tender. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and heat until melted.

This recipe came in very handy on a busy day. I think it needed a little more seasonings but that's just my personal preference and it's easy enough for anyone to adjust that to suit their tastes. One hint, break up the spaghetti before adding it. I didn't even think to do that and it was kind of difficult to get it all into the liquid to cook so I ended up breaking it up with a spoon while I stirred it. Would have made more sense to just break it before adding. Sorry if that's obvious to others but it didn't even occur to me! Duh!

My 10 year old son has taken an interest in cooking lately. He made this for us last night. It was wonderful and so easy. He didn't need any help with it at all.
