The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Salad
1/2 head cabbage, shredded
1/2 cup chicken, cooked and chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1/2 cup toasted almonds
1 package ramen noodles, crushed
1/2 cup chopped celery
Dressing
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 cup salad oil
For Dressing: Mix dressing ingredients in a small jar and store in refrigerator until ready to serve.
For Salad: Layer cabbage, celery, green onions and chicken; set aside. Add toasted sesame seeds and toasted almonds and ramen noodles just before adding dressing. Toss and serve immediately for best flavor and "crunch".
To toast almonds and sesame seeds, bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes in a single layer on a cookie sheet.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
