Orange Slice Candy Cake

ingredients
1 cup soft butter or margarine
4 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 pound orange slice candy
4 cups flour
1/2 cup coconut
1 teaspoon baking soda
dash salt
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped nutmeats
1 pound chopped dates
Glaze
1 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar
directions
Cream butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together; add candy, dates, coconut and nutmeats until all is coated with flour mixture. Gradually beat into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Pour into greased and floured 12-cup bundt pan. Bake at 250 degrees F for 3 to 3 1/2 hours or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Prepare following glaze and drizzle over hot cake.
Glaze: Mix orange juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved.
