Pita pizza is a healthy, delicious alternative to traditional pizza crust. It's also easy to make. This recipe uses whole grain pita bread for the dough and lets you mix and match your favorite toppings.

2 round (6-inch size) whole wheat pitas
6 ounces spaghetti sauce
3 ounces part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup chopped vegetables (onions, peppers, mushrooms, spinach, olives, your choice)
olive oil
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Spread one side of each pita round with some of the sauce.
Top each with the cheese and the chopped vegetables of your choice.
Drizzle the tops of each pita pizza with a little olive oil.
Place the pizzas on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted, the vegetables are tender, and the sauce is bubbly.
Serve the pita pizza hot.

These pizzas are right up my alley! I always have whole wheat Pitas on hand, and the veggies which are suggested are what we usually order on our take-out pizza. We grow tomatoes in our garden, so I always have numerous jars of homemade sauce in storage. Thanks Christine, for this easy & quick Pizza recipe.
