Slow Cooker Super Flavorful Mexican Chili

ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound hot sausage
1 chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped bell pepper
2/3 cup chopped celery
1 can (16 ounce size) pinto beans
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 envelope French onion soup mix
1 can (4 ounce size) chopped green chiles
1 can (16 ounce size) tomatoes
2 cans (6 ounce size) tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon oregano
3/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 bottle beer
directions
Brown hamburger meat with onion and garlic and bell pepper and cumin. Brown sausage. Mix all meat.
Add soup, tomato sauce, tomatoes and beans (drained). Add jalapenos, chili powder, cayenne, oregano, celery and chili peppers, salt, sugar, Tabasco. Add beer.
Cook at low heat in slow cooker for 4 hours.

We served this "Super" chili for the SuperBowl and it was fabulous! The directions mention jalapenos, however they aren't mentioned in the ingredient list - so add those only if you want some extra heat. The beer makes this a slightly more soupy chili, so if you want a thicker chili just leave the lid of the crock open a bit during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
