Discover how to make delicious bagels at home with this easy bread maker recipe. Perfect for breakfast or snacks, they're easy to prepare and can be customized with your favorite toppings.

1 1/3 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
2 2/3 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
Toppings
poppy seeds
sesame seeds
dried onions
Combine the water, honey, salt, flours, and yeast in the bread machine in the order recommended by the machine manufacturer. Set the machine for dough cycle. During the first rise, let the dough rise for 20 minutes only then remove the dough from the machine.
Divide the dough into 16 equal-sized pieces. Roll each into a rope and press the ends together to form a circle.
Place the bagels on a well-greased baking sheet, cover lightly with a towel, and let rise for 15-20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Bring about 2 inches of water to a boil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the bagels, in batches, and let cook for 30 seconds per side then remove carefully with a slotted spoon. Let drain on a towel.
Top the bagels with desired toppings and then place the bagels on the greased (reapply grease as needed) baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake at 500 degrees F for 8 minutes or until light golden brown.
Remove the bagels from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Store the bagels in an airtight container.
