Japanese Kabayaki sauce is most commonly used for grilled eel, but it's excellent on salmon and tuna as well. The sweet glaze only takes three ingredients to throw together, so there's no reason not to keep it stocked up.

  under 30 minutes

ingredients

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup mirin
1/4 cup sugar

directions

Combine the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, for 2-3 minutes or until the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture is heated.

Remove the pan from the heat and let the sauce cool completely.

Use the kabayaki sauce immediately or store it in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
