ingredients
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic
1/4 cup vegetable oil
8 pounds ripe tomatoes
2 tablespoons fresh basil
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 can (12 ounce size) tomato paste
directions
In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, saute onion in vegetable oil until tender but not brown. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1 hour.
To freeze, spoon sauce into 1 pint freezer containers, leaving a 1-inch space at top of container.
