Ingredients: 1 package active dry yeast 2 cups lukewarm water 2 cups flour 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup milk
Directions: In a large glass jar or crockery pot, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add flour; beat until smooth. Let stand at room temperature for five days. Stir each day.
On fifth day add sugar, water and milk. Refrigerate, stirring daily for another five days before using. Starter may be kept in refrigerator indefinitely. Always replace used portion with equal amount of flour and water.
