Satay
Satay (also spelled sate) is an Indonesian specialty where pieces of marinated meat, poultry or seafood are placed on bamboo skewers and grilled. They are served hot as an appetizer usually with a peanut dipping sauce. Different varieties of satay are found around southeast Asia. Other cultures have similar versions such as the Italian "spiedie" which is marinated meat cooked on a spit, and the Japanese yakitori which is marinated chicken that is grilled on a stick.
