September 24th, 2025 is National Cherries Jubilee Day

National Cherries Jubilee Day
Cherries Jubilee were originally called "jubilee cherries" when served in 1887 for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. They were created by Auguste Escoffier and are made with pitted dark red cherries that are sauteed with sugar and brandy (or Kirsch) and then are set aflame. They are typically served over vanilla ice cream but can also be served over cake.
