Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

There's nothing more satisfying than teaching your kids to bake from scratch using their own toy oven. The Easy-Bake Oven chocolate cake recipe is the perfect way to get them started in the kitchen.
non-stick cooking spray, shortening, or butter
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
3/4 teaspoon shortening
4 teaspoons milk, more if needed
Preheat the Easy Bake Oven as directed by the manufacturer. Grease the baking pan with non-stick cooking spray, shortening, or butter.
Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl. Mix with a fork.
Add the shortening and, using the fork, "cut" the mixture into the flour until it is incorporated.
While stirring, slowly add the milk. If the batter is too dry, add a little additional milk.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and place the dish in the Easy Bake Oven. Bake for 12-14 minutes. When done, use the pan pusher to push the dish into the cooling chamber. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes then remove from the unit.

Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the baking pan to prevent it from breaking apart.
Experiment with different mix-ins like chocolate chips or nuts.
Encourage creativity by allowing your child to decorate the cake with sprinkles, frosting, or edible glitter.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

This recipe didn't turn out well at all. When my two young boys weren't eating the cake I knew something was wrong. It is very bland and has no chocolate flavor at all. I had to add a lot more milk, probably at least double, to get it to cake batter consistency. It is not sweet enough. The cake was not cooked in 14 minutes. It took almost another 5 to 8 minutes longer to cook properly in the easy bake oven.
It looks horrible, like a glop of chocolate stuff. We haven't tasted it yet, but we would never serve it to guests.
This is for a child's Easy Bake Oven toy. I'm assuming you don't usually use that to cook for your guests.

It was absolutely horrible! I wish I could give this person zero stars! I am never going to use this website for my baking club!
You have an Easy Bake Oven baking club? (side note for anyone reading: this person submitted multiple reviews under multiple names for the same recipe so we are under the assumption it's just a troll - but the baking club comment had us chuckling!)

This recipe is not worth your time. It's too dry. It needs more milk or oil.

Well, I don't know why this didn't work for the last reviewer but it worked great for me. I made it with almond milk and the cake turned out light and fluffy. I was so amazed it came out of an easy bake oven! So much better than that packaged crap they sell as food!
