2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Chili Mac
1 pound ground beef
1 cup water
1/2 cup uncooked macaroni pasta
2 cans (15 ounce size) chopped tomatoes, drained
1 tablespoon chili powder
Beef Stroganoff
1 pound ground beef
2 cups water
2 cups uncooked egg noodles
1/2 cup sour cream
Potato Beef Casserole
1 pound ground beef
2 3/4 cups water
6 small potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 cup frozen mixed veggies
Quick Lasagna
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cups water
1 can (16 ounce size) tomato sauce
3 cups broken uncooked lasagna noodles
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
Prepare the basic mix by combining the dry milk powder, cornstarch, bouillon powder, onion flakes, basil, thyme, pepper, parsley, and garlic powder. Mix well and store in an airtight container. Add 1/2 cup of the basic mix to any of the flavor variations.
To prepare the hamburger helper:
For Chili Mac: Brown the ground beef in a deep skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the water and 1/2 cup basic mix and stir until the mix is dissolved. Add the pasta, tomatoes, and chili powder. Bring to a simmer. Cover the pan and let cook for 20 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
For Beef Stroganoff: Brown the ground beef in a deep skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the water and 1/2 cup basic mix and stir until the mix is dissolved. Stir in the egg noodles. Cover the skillet and let cook for 20 minutes or until the noodles are tender. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the sour cream.
For Potato Beef Casserole: Brown the ground beef in a deep skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the water and 1/2 cup basic mix and stir until the mix is dissolved. Add the potatoes and vegetables. Cover the pan and let simmer for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Remove the lid and let the sauce simmer until thickened.
For Lasagna: Brown the ground beef and onion in a deep skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add the water and 1/2 cup basic mix and stir until the mix is dissolved. Add the tomato sauce and broken lasagna noodles. Cover the pan and let simmer for 15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked. Stir in the Parmesan cheese then sprinkle the Mozzarella over the top. Remove the pan from the heat and cover. Let stand for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

I can't wait to try them !!!!
January 22, 2017
I assumed that each can of chopped tomatoes in the recipe is about 15 ounces, and substituted a 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes for the 2 cans of chopped tomatoes. Also substituted 1/8 cup homemade veggie powder for beef stock, and used whole wheat pasta. Had to add a little extra water. The recipe didn't taste quite right for my finicky taste buds, so, in the second iteration of the recipe, I omitted the dry milk powder from the basic recipe. In the third iteration, I browned the ground beef with a small diced onion in one tablespoon of olive oil, until some dark browned bits of beef appeared. The changes also saved me a few pennies. Admittedly, my taste may have been too influenced by the residual memory of my often made dinner of simple Bolognese style tomato sauce over pasta. None the less, a very tasty recipe- infinitely better than packaged Chili-mac. Will definitely make again. Mucho thanx.
