1 package (16 ounce size) tempeh, cubed (3 grain or soy)
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon molasses or honey
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 can (8 ounce size) tomato sauce
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
fresh ground black pepper
directions
Add the tempeh and onion to the crock pot.
In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, molasses, garlic paprika, chili powder, mustard, tomato sauce, tomato paste, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
Pour the tomato mixture into the crock pot and gently stir the tempeh to coat it in the sauce.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 4 hours or until the tempeh is heated through.
Season to taste with black pepper and serve hot.
