The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Beer Corn Bread

ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup beer
1/4 cup oil
directions
In bowl, stir together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt and soda.
Combine eggs, milk, beer and oil. Add to dry ingredients. Mix well.
Turn into greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake in 425 degrees F oven for 15 minutes or until done. Serve warm with chili or soup.
