Split Pea Soup With Polish Sausage

ingredients
1 pound split peas
2 cans beer
5 cups water
1/4 cup salt pork, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup chopped celery
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound Polish sausage
directions
Combine all ingredients except Polish sausage, and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until peas are soft. Put through a food mill or puree in blender.
When ready to serve, lightly saute slices of sausage while soup is heating. Add to soup and serve.
