A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

The classic peanut butter chocolate kiss cookie is a snap to make when you pre-mix the ingredients. Keep on hand for yourself, or give the cookie mix as a gift.

2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup lightly packed brown sugar
2 cups flour mixed with
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
40 chocolate candy kisses, wrapped
Combine flour with baking soda and salt until well mixed. You will be adding that as one layer.
Layer ingredients in order given (except kisses) in a 1 quart "wide mouth" canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place. Add flour mixture in several additions, pressing firmly after each.
Place wrapped kisses in resealable plastic bag. Press bag firmly into jar. Decorate jar and attach recipe with these instructions:

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
