ingredients
2 cups buttermilk baking mix
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
directions
Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Mix thoroughly the baking mix, 2 tablespoons sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, milk, and egg. Beat vigorously 20 strokes. Round up the dough on a lightly floured cloth-covered board. Knead 5 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a floured doughnut cutter.
For Bowknots: Hold the opposite sides of each ring with your fingers and twist to form a figure "8". Place the "holes" (Buttons) and the Bowknots on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
Immediately after baking, dip each Button and Bowknot into the melted butter, Sprinkle with sugar.
