6 medium apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch pie pan or baking dish.
Peel and slice the apples.
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, and water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer and add the apples. Let the apples cook for 10 minutes or until they are beginning to soften.
Pour the apples and liquid into the prepared dish.
Mix together the butter and brown sugar in a bowl until creamy. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt until blended. Mix into the creamed butter slowly until completely blended.
Evenly distribute the flour mixture over the apples in the dish.
Place the dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until the apples are cooked and golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with whipped cream or chill and serve cold.
