ingredients
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup milk
2 cups maple syrup
2 cups water
directions
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together at least three times. Cut in the butter with two knives or with a pastry cutter. Add the milk and mix well. Combine the maple syrup and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Drop a tablespoon of the dough into the syrup mixture, and continue, tablespoon by tablespoon, until the dough is used up. Cover immediately.
Since the dumplings must steam, it is essential that the cover should not be removed until they have cooked for 25 minutes over medium heat. Serve very hot, together with the syrup in which the dumplings were cooked.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Thank you so much for adding this recipe. I remember having this at my grandmother's house when I was younger and it was one of my favorite desserts. I can't wait to make it for my own children.
