Fun Food Holidays™ August 18th is National Soft Ice Cream Day

The soft serve ice cream cone is an under-appreciated art form. First, there are the aesthetics of the thing: the ridges and tapering that result from rotating the cone as you build it up right. The curly cue that tops it off with a flourish.

Second, there is the challenge of eating the ice cream before it melts and runs down your hand. One also must mind the risk of an overloaded cone dropping its ice cream contents onto the ground--a rueful turn of events in any occasion!
