Playing With Your Food
by Guest Writer, Valerie Whitmore
Earlier this week I was going back through some of the photos taken from our previous taste testing events. We've cooked a LOT of food over the years. Some good, some bad, some more fun than others. One photo made me smile when I saw it.
I think this got more play with our taste-testers than any other recipe. Not because it was some fabulous, gourmet recipe either. But rather because it was so unexpected. And fun.
(Re)-Introducing: Kid's Sushi
We made this recipe earlier this year. The tasting theme was "secret ingredient". All the recipes we tried had some surprise element to them. This one, of course, was that it wasn't sushi at all.
It's rice krispy bars and gummi bears rolled up in fruit leather They took a little practice to get the rolling just right. Some of the fruit leather sheets would break if you weren't careful
Once rolled, they are sliced into sushi-like rounds.
Good luck trying to eat only one bite. These were addicting and fun. The grownups loved them but I have a sneaking suspicion that kids would love them too
