New Things
by Guest Writer, Valerie Whitmore
You might have noticed a few new things around here lately. I've slowly been pushing out a redesign and sort of "re-focus" of the website.
The homepage now features more individual recipes that we've been testing with larger photos and a more detailed recipe guide. There will be a new featured recipe every day. Or, when I remember to update it <grin>
The recipe explorer has a completely new look as well. There are also featured recipes listed there for each major section of recipes. Those will be updated as new photos are added as well.
Various recipe categories are getting a similiar look to the recipe explorer. I'm breaking them down into cohesive groupings and featuring recipes within them. That design will be rolling out to all the categories eventually but it's a time consuming process. I'm really putting a lot of effort into improving them, not just making them look prettier.
Lastly, the recipe pages themselves have changed. The design is cleaner (I think) with a larger photo (when one has been submitted). Similar recipes are listed below the directions in case the one you are looking at isn't quite what you want.
The "re-focus" is to put more emphasis on the food photos and individual recipes. I hope this will also encourage you to submit photos (and reviews) of the recipe you try. I really, really, really want you to submit photos. Really.
And, as I mentioned in my last update I've been working on the new Feed Daily website. This blog will remain Feed Daily as well but I'll mostly be referring to it as "my blog" and referring to the new website by name.
Feed Daily is up and running so I hope you'll check it out. It updates throughout the day with new recipes from some of my favorite food blogs. I only have a portion of the food blogs entered in at this point but there are already over 3,000 posts - so you have lots of grazing material. Eventually I will also add user features that will let you bookmark your favorite posts or blogs and subscribe to updates so you can be notified when they post new content.
I'd love to hear what you think about the design changes to CDKitchen. Feel free to leave comments below or via the helpdesk (just put "feedback" in the subject line so it gets forwarded to me quicker). And don't forget to submit those food photos!!
