Getting Social
by Guest Writer, Valerie Whitmore
You might have noticed CDKitchen popping up on your social media radar lately. After quite a long hiatus from tweeting, plussing, pinning and liking, I've decided to take another stab at upping our social media efforts.
In the past we split up the social media duties. However, I found that the "voice" tends to be inconsistent with that method - so for now your's truly is taking over the task. Lucky me.
Our featured recipes are appearing on our Facebook page, Google+, Pinterest, and once I can really motivate myself, Twitter too. I've also added a new RSS feed with our featured recipes so if you prefer to get your recipe fix that way you can.
On the recipe pages on CDK, I've also added social media sharing buttons to make it easier for you to share your favorite recipes on your favorite flavor of social media. I never liked the old buttons because they slowed down the page load time. These new buttons aren't interactive (they don't show how many plusses or likes or pins something has) but they are much better in my opinion and definitely less glitchy.
I will ask that if you share a recipe that you share it using the proper method. Do NOT copy the body of the recipe into your pin, your Facebook post, etc. If you do, we have to file a DMCA takedown notice for copyright violation - and you will lose the content you added. You'll find more and more recipe sites and food blogs doing this. If you receive multiple DMCA notices against you, the social media outlet (ie Pinterest, Facebook) may close your account for abuse. Not trying to scare anyone off, but there are an increased number of abusers out there doing this who think it's ok - when it's not.
I hope that you will join me in my social media efforts by hanging out in your favorite social setting:
