Our Favorite Wheat Bread
CDKitchen https://www.cdkitchen.com
Serves/Makes: 2 loaves    |   Ready In: 2-5 hrs

Ingredients:
2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon dry active yeast
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/8 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups all purpose white flour

Directions:
Place the warm water in a bowl and sprinkle it with the yeast. Let stand.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, molasses, honey, and salt and mix until blended. Stir in the yeast and water.

In another bowl, stir together the whole wheat and white flour. Add the flour one cup at a time to the yeast mixture, stirring well after each addition.

Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray. Let rise in a warm, draft free location until doubled in size.

Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and punch it down to release the air. Let rest for 5 minutes.

Divide the dough into two halves and form into loaves. Place in greased loaf pans. Place in a warm, draft free location and let rise for one hour.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Place the loaf pans in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped with your knuckles. Remove the pans from the oven. Let the bread cool in the pans for 5-10 minutes then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing or storing. Store the bread in an airtight container.
