Ingredients: 1 package (8 ounce size) alphabet pasta, cooked as directed 1 can (20 ounce size) crushed pineapple, drain and reserve the juice 1 can (11 ounce size) mandarin oranges, drain and reserve the juice 3/4 cup white sugar 2 eggs, beaten slightly 1 tablespoon flour 8 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
Directions: Cook pasta and drain well.
Drain the fruit and set aside. To the reserved juices of the fruit, add the sugar, eggs and flour. Cook over low heat in a heavy saucepan until thickened, about 5-10 minutes. Pour over the cooked alphabet pasta, cover and chill overnight.
The next day or prior to serving, add the reserved fruit and the Cool Whip. Chill well.
This makes a very large salad and I can guarantee if you take it to a barbecue or picnic, you will be coming home with an empty dish.
