This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.

Freshen up your condiment collection with this honey mustard poppy dressing straight from the Red Robin training book. It is about to become your kitchen's best-kept secret.

72 ounces mayonnaise
12 ounces sugar
12 ounces honey
6 ounces mustard
6 ounces Grey Poupon Dijon mustard
6 ounces white vinegar
6 ounces vegetable oil
8 tablespoons poppy seeds
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk well to combine. Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
This recipe is supposedly directly from the Red Robin training manual. To scale it down, change the serving size to 8 (which will give you 1 cup or 8 ounces of dressing).
Adjust the honey and sugar based on your preference, especially if serving with sweet salads or dishes.
For extra creaminess, blend the dressing in a food processor instead of whisking.
Let the dressing sit for a couple of hours in the refrigerator before serving to enhance the flavor.
Use it as a marinade for meats or as a topping for grilled vegetables.
Add a splash of lemon juice for brightness and acidity.
Experiment with different mustards to find a flavor combination that you love.
Always taste the dressing before serving and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Serve in a decorative bottle as part of a dinner party spread.
Consider making a larger batch if using it for a party, just be mindful of the shelf life.
For a lighter version, try using Greek yogurt as a base instead of mayonnaise.
The recipe calls for both regular (yellow) and Dijon mustard for the special balance of flavors needed to mimic the restaurant's version.
You can reduce the sugar slightly according to taste. You can also use alternatives like agave syrup or stevia, though this may affect the dressing's texture and flavor.
You can make the dressing without poppy seeds. If you prefer a different texture, you could substitute them with chopped nuts or seeds for added crunch.
White vinegar is traditional, but you can substitute other types of vinegar like apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar, keeping in mind that this may alter the flavor slightly.
Store the dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It has a shelf life of about 7 days.
Freezing is not recommended, as mayonnaise can separate when thawed, resulting in an undesirable texture.
Try adding fresh herbs like dill or parsley, or spices like garlic powder or onion powder for additional flavor.
This dressing is great on salads, as a dip for vegetables, or drizzled over grilled chicken or fish. It can also be used as a sandwich spread.
Yes, this dressing can be made ahead of time. It often tastes even better after a day in the refrigerator as the flavors meld together.
If you want a thinner dressing, you can add a little water or additional vinegar until you reach your desired consistency.
Wire Whisk: For thoroughly mixing the mayonnaise, sugar, honey, mustard, white vinegar, vegetable oil, and poppy seeds until well combined.
Measuring Cups and Spoons: For measuring the ingredients, including the mayonnaise, mustard, and poppy seeds.
Storage Container: For storing the dressing after preparation. A container with a tight-sealing lid will keep the dressing fresh while refrigerated.
Spatula or Rubber Scraper (optional): For scraping down the sides of the bowl during mixing.
Grilled Chicken Salad: Use the dressing to drizzle over a grilled chicken salad. The mustard and honey notes boost the grilled flavor while adding a creamy texture.
Veggie Wrap: Spread the dressing inside a whole grain wrap with fresh vegetables and lettuce. The tangy sweetness of the dressing complements the crisp veggies.
Shrimp Dip: Mix the dressing with chopped, cooked shrimp and serve it as a seafood dip. The dressing's sweetness balances the brininess of the shrimp perfectly.
Roasted Vegetable Platter: Use the dressing as a dipping sauce for a variety of roasted vegetables.
Potato Salad: Mix the dressing into a potato salad for a creamy twist. The honey mustard flavor adds a new depth to traditional potato salad.
Fruit Salad: Drizzle over a fruit salad to give it a sweet, tangy kick. The dressing boosts the flavors of fruits like apples, grapes, and melons.
Baked Brie: Serve the dressing alongside a warm baked brie. The combination of creamy cheese with sweet and tangy dressing contrasts nicely.
Grilled Vegetables: Brush the dressing on grilled vegetables before serving.
Chicken Tenders: Use the dressing as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders. The creamy texture and honey mustard flavor pair well with fried or baked chicken.
Pasta Salad: Mix the dressing into a cold pasta salad with vegetables and cheese. It adds a creamy element that brings the ingredients together smoothly.
This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Just had this recipe at RR a week ago, made this and it is fantastic, but remember it says volume and you have to convert the ounces to volume, I cut it down to a third and didn't taste right - had to find on the internet how to convert ounces to cups, tablespoons, etc. Then made the recipe and it was Fantastic!! I think you should print the recipe using those numbers like for 1/3 of recipe: 3 cups mayonnaise, 1/2 cup sugar and honey, 1/4 cup mustard & grey Poupon Dijon mustard, 1/4 cup white vinegar & vegetable oil and 3 Tablespoons poppy seeds. Enjoy!!

This recipe is great! The taste is spot-on. Next time, I might add a little less white vinegar, but overall, very delicious!
