Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

WAY TOO SALTY! The miso and soy sauce are so overpowering that you get a thin salty soup rather than a true sauce.
Miso is salty but the other ingredients should balance it out. Make sure you're using dark soy sauce and white miso as they are both less salty than light soy sauce and other miso types.
