In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in molasses and vanilla; mix well. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture.
Drop by Tablespoonfuls 2" apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cookies spring back when touched lightly (do not overbake). Remove to wire racks.
For frosting, in a medium saucepan, bring sugars and butter to a boil; boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in milk; bring to a boil. Remove from heat (mixture will look curdled at first). Cool for 3 minutes. Add vanilla and salt; mix well. Frost warm cookies.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
