This is my second time making it. First time I followed the recipe and like others reported, it was great but seemed like it needed more flavor. Second time I added some cinnamon oil. That did the trick!

the baking soda causes a reaction that makes the hot mixture bubble up and makes it much easer to coat popcorn and leaves a great crunch after cooled.

I used to make a similar recipe years ago, but never added baking soda. Can anyone tell me what baking soda does to the final product? Thanks.

Easy to make and tasty. I would have liked it to have a little more cinnamon flavor - maybe add some cinnamon extract?
Rather than baking the popcorn, I used the microwave method - Spray a large grocery bag with baking spray and put the popcorn in it. Stir in the cooked candy mixture with a large spoon. Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes, 1/2 minute, 1 1/2 minutes and then 1/2 minute - removing the bag and shaking between each cooking time. (The bag gets quite warm by the end so handle it carefully.) Spread the popcorn in a thin layer on the counter to cool. Clean up is a breeze - just throw the bag in the trash:)

I didn't use the extra sugar, and I used puffed corn instead of regular popcorn. Heavenly! 5 stars!

This was good. When I make it again I will use more red hots.

If you like Red Hots you will love this. Not really hot, just spicy with a little butter flavor. Would make this again and again! Make sure that you keep stirring while boiling as sugar could burn in bottom of your pan. I'm off to buy some more Red Hots!

really great recipe. helpful info: two bags of popcorn is about 6 quarts; after the candy hardens it's tough to get off. make sure you're ready for scrubbing afterwards!
