Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Pumpkin Ice Cream Squares

ingredients
1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cloves
whipped cream and pecans (optional)
1/4 cup sugar
1 can (16 ounce size) solid pack pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
directions
Mix crumbs with sugar and butter. Press into bottom of 9 inch square pan. Combine pumpkin with sugar, salt and spices. Fold in ice cream. Pour into crumb-lined pan. Cover, freeze until firm. Cut into squares about 20 minutes before serving. Top with whipped cream and pecans.
