Black Walnut Chocolate Fudge

ingredients
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups granulated sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
2/3 cup milk or cream
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup black walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions
Combine chocolate, sugar, corn syrup, milk and butter. Boil until it forms a soft ball when tested in cold water. Remove from stove.
Add vanilla and baking powder. Beat until creamy. Add walnuts. Pour into a buttered pan. When set, cut into squares.

I was skeptical of this recipe because it calls for baking powder and Ive never seen a fudge recipe add that ingredient. Also the recipe didnt have elaborate instructions regarding the candy reaching an exact temperature. But I have to admit...it was easy..the fudge is perfect..tasty and very very rich. :p
