Hearty Hungarian Goulash Recipe

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil
1 1/2 pound beef cubes (stew beef)
1 can (16 oz size) stewed tomatoes
1 package onion soup mix
1 1/2 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
salt to taste
1 cup water
8 ounces broad egg noodles

Directions:

In Dutch oven or large saucepan, heat oil and brown beef. Add tomatoes, onion soup mix and paprika. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, 1 1/2 hours or until beef is tender.

Stir in flour and salt blended with water. Bring to boil, then simmer, stirring constantly, until sauce is thickened, about 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions.

To serve, arrange goulash over noodles.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS: Omit oil. In 3 quart casserole, combine tomatoes, onion soup mix and paprika. Heat covered 5 minutes or until boiling.

Add beef and heat covered at DEFROST (30% power) stirring occasionally, 30 minutes or until beef is tender.

Stir in flour and salt blended with water. Heat, stirring occasionally, 7 minutes or until sauce is thickened.

Meanwhile, prepare noodles as above and serve.
