Kettle Corn
- add review
- #35961
ingredients
1/2 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
directions
Place the popcorn, sugar and salt in a large pot with 4 tablespoons vegetable oil. Over a medium heat, begin to pop the popcorn. Constantly shake the pot to ensure that the popcorn kernels and oil do not burn. Once the popping has slowed, remove the pot from heat.
NOTE: If you are using microwave popcorn, immediately upon opening add sugar (I don't add salt because it is usually already salted) and shake well.
You can also experiment with combinations of sugar and cinnamon or Chinese 5 spice.

Most kids these days have never seen popcorn pop anywhere than in a bag so while we had a house full of relatives all with lots of young kids we tried this recipe. It was such fun! And good. I personally love kettle corn more than regular or flavored popcorn because of the slight sweetness to it.

Nice and easy recipe with subtle sweet taste. I was worried about the amount of oil but it worked out ok. About half of my corn didn't pop and I couldn't revive the left over kernels so that was a bit of a waste, but all-in-all a great recipe thanks.
