Directions:

Set aside 1 cup flour. In large bowl, mix remaining flour, sugar, salt and yeast.

In small saucepan, over low heat, heat water, milk and margarine until hot to touch (125 degrees F to 130 degrees F); stir into dry mixture. Mix in only enough reserved flour to make soft dough.

On lightly floured surface, knead 4 minutes. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a 10-inch circle. Sprinkle 1/2 cup ham and 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese over half of each circle.

Beat together egg and water; brush on outside edges of circle. Fold dough over filling to form semi-circles, pinching edges to seal. Press edges with fork tines to seal. Place on greased baking sheet; cover.

Place large shallow pan on counter; half-fill with boiling water. Place baking sheet over pan; let dough rise 15 minutes.

Brush loaves with remaining egg white mixture. Press edges again with fork tines. Cut slits on top of loaves if desired.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes or until done. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers; reheat to serve.
