2 cups finely chopped cooked ham
1/2 cup finely diced celery
1 teaspoon grated onion
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
12 slices bread
butter for bread, optional
Combine the ham, celery, onion, mayo, and mustard in a bowl. Mix well.
Butter one side of each slice of bread (can also use mayo if desired). Spread the ham salad on half of the buttered slices. Top with the remaining pieces of bread to form sandwiches.
Cut into halves or quarters and serve immediately.
Store any leftover ham salad in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container for up to 2 days.
