- #77099
1-2 hrs
ingredients
4 medium white turnips, sliced about 1/8-inch thick
1 yellow onion, peeled, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup crumbled roquefort cheese, or other blue cheese
directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
In a 9-inch round baking dish, toss together the turnips, onion and melted butter. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil the whipping cream, nutmeg and pepper; cook for 1 minute.
Remove the turnips from the oven and take off the foil. Pour the cream sauce over the turnips, toss well and sprinkle blue cheese on top.
Return the turnips to the oven, uncovered, and bake for one hour or until the top is golden. If necessary, run the dish under the broiler for 1 minute if the top isn't golden.
