Deluxe Petite Baby Limas
- add review
- #2288
30-60 minutes
ingredients
1 package (10 ounce size) frozen deluxe petite baby lima beans
water to cover well
1 chicken bouillon cube
2 tablespoons butter
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Disregard cooking instructions on package of lima beans.
Place limas in a medium sauce pan for which you have a lid. Add water to cover them generously, about 1 1/2 inches above the limas. Add bouillon cube. Do not add salt.
Bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes. While cooking, check water level from time to time and add more, if needed.
After about 15 minutes, add butter and black pepper. At end of cooking time (20 minutes), check for tenderness. Limas should be fork tender, that is, when you stick a fork in them, they should be tender and easily come right off the fork.
If not tender at the end of 20 minutes, cook for about 5 minutes longer, but please, do not overcook. Serve hot.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
