Hello, I've had the same problem with homemade dishwasher detergent. I found that if I add watersoftner, baking soda and borax, all in equal amounts, there is no icky film on my dishes. Try running your dishwasher empty with vinegar to get the film out.

Hi Tammie, I have tried this recipe for dishwasher from another site and it racked my plastic baby bottles leaving a thick white film on them! What can I do? I would love to use this recipe, since it's so cheap and convenient, Do I need to add extra vinegar for the rinse? I found a comment about adding morte baking soda to hard water and we do have very hard water, Would you recommend more even if leaves that film? I am affraid I can get a film all over my dishwasher if I use this recipe and even more, plug the water ducts...I need more options...Thanks
